Agrarian reform orgs join forum on financial resilience
SURIGAO CITY, Surigao del Norte (PIA) -- A Financing Forum and Building Financial Resilience Against Scam, Fraud, and Money Mules was recently conducted to the Surigao del Norte agrarian reform beneficiaries organizations (ARBOs) held at the conference room, DTI Provincial Office, Simtoco Building, Surigao City.
The activity provided viable financing options for business growth opportunities and empower the participants to become financially resilient in order to combat today's rising financial problems brought about by various types of scam, fraud, and money mules.
The forum did not only focus on the financial growth of the participants but also emphasized the danger of misleading financial investments widely available in the market, both online and offline.
During the forum, the participants were presented with current and available financial products and services offered by the DTI's financing arm which is the Small Business Corporation (SBC) through Jayson B. Gallera, SBC provincial coordinator, and the Mindanao Consolidated Cooperative Bank (MCCB) through John Ray L. Tacbobo, branch manager.
Aside from talking about financing options, Tacbobo also discussed financial resilience and provided advice on spotting and avoiding financial fraud, money mules/laundering, and scams.
According to Tacbobo, no matter how much money you have, you will lose everything to these financial scammers once they attack.
With this type of capacity-building activity, the DTI continues to empower the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the province of Surigao del Norte to make sound financial decisions for both their businesses and individually as economic drivers.
The activity was spearheaded by the Department of Trade and Industry- Surigao del Norte’s Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (DTI-CARP) in partnership with the SBC, MCCB and the Negosyp Center in Surigao City. (DTI-CARP/PIA-Surigao del Norte)
