State U in Surigao Sur ground breaks facility on College of Medicine
TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur (PIA) – The North Eastern Mindanao State University (NEMSU) marked another milestone with the groundbreaking ceremony of its College of Medicine Building at the NEMSU main campus in Tandag City on July 3.
The event signified the
start of construction of the new facility to serve as a pioneer medical school
in the region.
The proposed six-story
medical building has a budget P95 million for phase I of implementation.
The establishment of the
NEMSU College of Medicine was realized through House Bill No. 8825, primarily
sponsored by Congressional Representative Romeo Momo Sr.
In alignment with its
commitment to social responsibility, NEMSU also signed a Memorandum of
Agreement with the Adela Serra Ty Memorial Medical Center (ASTMMC), designating
ASTMMC as the base hospital for the college to provide the medical students
with hands-on clinical experience in a real-world healthcare setting.
The ceremony was attended
by House Committee Chairperson Momo on Public Works and Highways, Gov.
Alexander Pimentel, DPWH 1st District Engineering Office Chief Ruel Bantugan,
and Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Education Supervisor II
Fredrick Amihan. They highlighted the project's significance in
addressing the region's healthcare needs and fostering the development of
future medical professionals.
The new College of Medicine Building is a testament to NEMSU's dedication to advancing education and improving community health. The facility is expected to be operational soon offering modern and advanced amenities and a robust curriculum designed to train the next generation of doctors. (NGPB, PIA-Surigao del Sur)
