PMO Surigao celebrates 50th anniversary
SURIGAO CITY, Surigao del Norte (PIA) -- As the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) marked its 50th anniversary on July 11, the Port Management Office (PMO) of Surigao celebrated the milestone through a day filled with music, games, and heartfelt reminiscences.
The golden jubilee celebration featured a poignant trip down memory lane, courtesy of Terminal Supervisor Evangeline Rocolcol, a stalwart of PMO Surigao. With four decades of service under her belt, she captivated her colleagues with a spirited and often emotional recounting of her experiences since joining the PPA in 1984.
"It's been a journey of growth, challenges, and immense pride," Rocolcol shared.
I've seen the Port of Surigao transform from a modest facility to the bustling hub it is today. The PPA has not just been my workplace; it's been my second home," she said.
The celebration took a musical turn with the "Voice of PMO Surigao" singing competition, featuring contestants from various divisions within the office.
The event showcased the hidden talents within the organization, with the Port Services Division (PSD) representative clinching the grand prize. Singers from the Port Police Division (PPD) and the Finance Division secured the second and third spots, respectively.
The afternoon saw the festivities shift gears with a digital games tournament utilizing an Xbox console equipped with motion sensors.
The high-energy event featured virtual bowling, boxing, and dancesport competitions, drawing enthusiastic participation from across divisions.
The PSD team again emerged victorious, further cementing their dominance in the day's activities. As the PPA looks forward to its next half-century, PMO Surigao’s celebration served as a tribute to the organization's resilience, growth, and the dedicated individuals who have shaped its journey.
The event did not only honor the past but also reinforced the bonds that will carry the PPA into the future. (PPA-PMO Surigao/PIA-Surigao del Norte)
