Bislig City airport to resume flights to Cebu on September 2024

By Nida Grace P. Barcena

BISLIG CITY, Surigao del Sur (PIA) -- "Bislig City is now a flight ready destination (FRD) after the successful negotiations between Leading Edge Air Services Corporation (LEASCOR) and the city government of Bislig."

Mayor Florencio Garay of Bislig City shared as key officials of the city through City Administrator Romulo C. Garay, City Information Office Chief Napoleon L. Velez, and Local Economic Development and Investment Promotions Unit Office Chief-designate Daniel Lindley V. Alvar confirmed that direct flights from both cities will resume on September 20, 2024.

This development represented a significant milestone for Bislig City, greatly enhancing its accessibility and convenience for both residents and tourists.

With the reinstatement of the Cebu-Bislig and Bislig-Cebu routes, travelers will no longer need to endure the lengthy trips to Butuan or Davao to catch a flight. The streamlined travel options are expected to foster economic growth by attracting more tourists, business travelers, and investors to the region.

The officials of the local government of Bislig City are optimistic that this renewed air connectivity will be a catalyst for boosting local tourism, supporting cargo and logistics needs, and contributing to the city's ongoing economic development. The resumption of direct flights will enhance Bislig's appeal as a prime destination for both tourism and commerce and will highlight its rising significance as a strategic location within Mindanao's travel and investment sectors.

As Bislig City continues to evolve into a premier destination in the region, the resumption of these flights marks a major leap forward in its journey toward greater prominence on the national stage. (Photo courtesy of LGU-Bislig City/NGPB, PIA-Surigao del Sur)
