Caraga declared peaceful; PNP-13 cited 98% crime clearance efficiency

BUTUAN CITY – In a significant development, Caraga region has been declared peaceful and orderly by Police Brigadier General Alan M. Nazarro, regional director of Philippine National Police - Police Regional Office 13 (PNP-PRO 13) in the conducted Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas on August 6 at the Camp Rafael Rodriguez multi-purpose hall, Butuan City.

Caraga region made remarkable strides in law enforcement, achieving 98.22 percent crime clearance rate and successfully resolved 76.79 percent of reported crimes from June 2022 to June 2024.

The audio-visual presentation shared the remarkable achievements that factored the close to perfect efficiency percentage highlighting a series of successful operations across the region. 

Notably, authorities confiscated a substantial 9,985.529 grams of methamphetamine hydro-chloride or shabu and 825.44 grams of cannabis or marijuana, valued at 92 million pesos, from the arrested 1,768 suspects and the capture of 1,121 most wanted persons from 6,277 individuals taken into custody for various offenses.

“Although the drug problem is manageable, we do not lower our guards. We continue to beef up our efforts on reducing the demand and supply of illegal drugs,” PBGen. Nazarro said.

“Rest assured that we will continue working hand-in-hand with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and our partner agencies in this endeavor,” he added.

Moreover, 280 members of communist terrorist groups (CTGs) and 926 affiliates were apprehended through operations targeting threats to national security, law enforcement efforts were also extended to firearm control, where 4,369 loose firearms were recovered from 318 seized suspects.

Some 406 individuals were arrested for illegal logging activities where P25 million worth of forest products have been confiscated while P122 million worth of marine products and gears were apprehended from 4,458 violators emphasizing PNP-PRO 13's commitment on safeguarding communities and natural resources.

PRO 13 has entrapped 2509 suspects involved in illegal gambling activities seizing P1.25 million bet money.

"We will maintain our momentum in combating crime, illegal activities, and insurgency,"  Nazarro affirmed, highlighting the unwavering determination of law enforcement on ensuring security and stability in the region.

To establish a mutual trust, the regional director gave prominence on having a closer interaction and partnership of PNP with government and non-government agencies, stakeholders, and the community on promoting peace and order by conducting 15,273 community outreach programs that benefited 763,650 Individuals and mobilizing 538,273 members of Lingkod Bayan advocacy support group.

“Aside from using the social media platforms to disseminate safety tips for public awareness, our PCR (Police Community Relations) personnel are also visiting the communities, schools, and churches for the conduct of symposiums or dialogues,” he stated.

“Our crime prevention drive calls on the cooperation and collaboration of everyone to prevent and control crimes,” he added.

He proudly pointed out that these nearly flawless achievements are not just milestones but a reflection of their commitment to serving with integrity and dedication. He emphasized that it set a new standard for their role as policemen, embodying the mantra, "Sa Bagong Pilipinas, Gusto ng Pulis Ligtas Ka" emphasizing their mission to protect and serve, aiming to build trust and security within communities across the region.
