DPWH engineers distribute school supplies, food packs to 721 pupils in Caraga
BUTUAN CITY -- The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) -District Engineers’ League of the Philippines (DELP) 13, in support of the Oplan Balik Eskwela (OBE), extended school supplies and food packs to some pupils in selected barangays all over Caraga region.
Dubbed “Gamit Pang-Eskwela, Handog ay Saya,” this is the 8th year that the DPWH-DELP 13 to generously give much-needed notebooks, intermediate papers, bags, crayons, erasers, pencils, pens, sharpeners, and a variety of art materials such as glue, scissors, and art papers to identified and far-flung schools in the region. Items for hygiene were also included in the bag such as toothbrush and toothpaste that benefitted a total of 721 young learners.
The selected schools that benefited from the program include:
1) Manlangit Elementary School (ES) in
Brgy. Alubijid, Buenavista, Agusan del Norte;
2) Milan ES in Magallanes, Agusan del
Norte with 117 kindergarten to Grade 6 incoming students; Donor -DPWH- Agusan
del Norte District Engineering Office (DEO);
3) A.J Mejia ES in Brgy. Baobaoan,
Butuan City with 162 kindergarten to Grade 6 students assisted by DPWH-Butuan
City DEO;
4) Tagyago ES in La Paz, Agusan del Sur
with 81 students from Grades 1 to 6, assisted by DPWH- Agusan del Sur 1st
DEO;
5) Ebro ES in San Francisco, Agusan del
Sur;
6) Caimpugan ES in Rosario, Agusan del
Sur with 63 grade 1 learners assisted by DPWH- Agusan del Sur 2nd DEO;
7) N. Sering ES with 127 students;
8 ) Uba ES in Soccoro, Surigao del
Norte with 18 students;
9) Maribojoc ES in San Benito, Surigao
del Norte with 92 students, and
10) San Fernando ES in Del Carmen,
Surigao del Norte with 61 students, assisted by DPWH-Surigao del Norte 1st
DEO.
Other district offices are yet to schedule their outreach programs which will also benefit more than 300 students.
Meanwhile, maintenance activities were also extended to public schools as part of the OBE such as trimming of grass around school premises, vegetation control, declogging of canals, painting of pedestrian lanes and pavement markings, and minimal classroom repairs.
Recipient teachers, parents, and pupils expressed their appreciation to the members of the DPWH -DELP 13 for choosing their schools as beneficiaries of the outreach activity stating, “The project did not only provide tangible support to the schools but also inspired the students to pursue their studies with renewed vigor.”
