Local nutrition action planning-workshop empowers barangay leaders
BAYUGAN CITY, Agusan del Sur – Top-performing punong barangays and their nutrition committee members from the six selected barangays in Bayugan City actively took part in the recently conducted Local Nutrition Action Planning (LNAP) Workshop.
The workshop enhanced the local nutrition action plans and foster a commitment to improving the nutrition situation of their respective areas. By the end of the workshop, all punong barangay engaged shared their insights and experiences, underscoring their dedication to advancing nutrition in their communities.
Merla P. Ajan of Barangay Mt. Carmel expressed her gratitude for the two-day event, praising the clarity and depth of the presentations of Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator (RNPC) NiΓ±o Archie Labordo.
Ajan acknowledged the hard work of her barangay nutrition scholars and noted that the active participation of all attendees reflected their commitment to successfully implementing nutrition programs.
Ajan further emphasized that the turnout from various barangays showcased the dedication of leaders who genuinely wish to serve their communities. She hoped this workshop is just the beginning and looks forward to more training opportunities to help Bayugan City thrive in nutrition.
Jemuel A. Andoy from Barangay Mt. Olive also expressed his appreciation to the mayor, vice mayor, and all participants. After two days of engaging discussions, he felt enriched with knowledge he was eager to share. He recognized the valuable insights gained, which would undoubtedly benefit their barangays.
Mardel Monterola from Barangay Salvacion shared his reflections on the workshop, thanking all visitors and fellow participants. He felt enlightened by the sessions and acknowledged the significant responsibility they bear in addressing the identified nutrition challenges. Monterola emphasized the need to prioritize health-related activities in their barangay.
Tanjay from Barangay Maygatasan noted the workshop's impact, acknowledging that despite their recognition as a top-performing barangay, there are still considerable gaps to address. He expressed gratitude for the knowledgeable resource speakers and the valuable lessons learned, hoping to maintain their top status in the coming year.
Melita G. Apolinarya of Barangay Bucac highlighted the workshop's value, stating that she gained extensive knowledge to share with her Barangay Nutrition Scholars. She reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring that no one in their barangay suffers from malnutrition, focusing on promoting healthy living among community members.
Lastly, Aireen L. Noja of Barangay OsmeΓ±a expressed her appreciation for the engaging sessions, noting how captivating the topics were. She acknowledged that while they initially believed they had everything under control, they now realize there is much more to learn. As barangay officials, they cannot work merely for compliance; they must confront challenges directly.
Noja felt fortunate to be among the first to receive this knowledge and believes they must share it with the other 37 barangays. Although this presents a significant challenge, they are prepared to tackle it.
The insights shared by these community leaders highlighted the collaborative spirit and commitment to improving nutrition in Bayugan City. Their enthusiasm and dedication signaled a promising future for local nutrition initiatives, paving the way for healthier communities.
