PH, Singapore business leaders forge partnerships for Mindanao investments

SINGAPORE – Business leaders and key private sector players from Mindanao and Singapore came together to explore joint investment opportunities during the Philippines-Singapore Business Networking Session on September 19.

Secretary Leo Tereso A. Magno of the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) showcased Mindanao's vast economic prospects, rich natural resources, and its robust potential for sustained growth. In his presentation, Magno underscored that Mindanao is now fully prepared to welcome business partnerships and investments from Singapore. He emphasized Mindanao's strategic location within the Brunei Darussalam–Indonesia–Malaysia–Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) sub-region, positioning the island as a key gateway for trade, investment, and tourism.

Several prominent businesses from Mindanao presented their portfolios, fostering strategic linkages and potential collaborations with Singaporean participants. Among the companies that pitched their services were Joji Ilagan International Schools, Six Eleven Global Services, and Alsons Development and Investment Corporation.

Additionally, the provincial government of Dinagat Islands and the Southern Philippines Development Authority (SPDA) highlighted their agriculture and tourism investment assets, inviting potential partnerships in these sectors.

Meanwhile, the participating Singaporean private groups represented the country's strong commercial, industrial, technology, and ecosystem innovation sector namely, Ares Asia, Huawei International, Unisys Singapore, Black Mountain Capital, Ocean Pixel, One Blue Marble, Blu C53, Transerve, Spectromatrix, and Philippine Business Chamber in Singapore.

The networking session, organized by MinDA, aimed to attract investments that would accelerate Mindanao's economic growth while strengthening relationships between Singaporean companies and Mindanao-based enterprises.
