Agsurnons benefit from 'Handog ng Pangulo'

AGUSAN DEL SUR -- The Department of Labor and Employment - Agusan del Sur Field Office (DOLE-ADSFO) joined in the Handog ng Pangulo: Serbisyong Tapat Para sa Lahat, which provided accessible government programs and services to the marginalized and vulnerable sectors in the province, in celebration of President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.'s 67th birthday on September 13.

The provincial government of Agusan del Sur (PGAS) spearheaded comprehensive activities designed to aid the informal sector in the province, held at the Datu Lipus Makapandong Cultural Center (Naligayan Grounds), Gov. D.O. Government Center, Prosperidad.

One of the highlights of the celebration was the DOLE Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD) payout of salaries to 1,386 beneficiaries with a total amount of P7.1 million across various municipalities in the province.

Simultaneously, DOLE-ADSFO conducted extensive TUPAD profiling and validation on-site, targeting more than 600 beneficiaries.

The event also featured a significant turnover of checks under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) to two local government units (LGUs) for Grupong Adunay Kapansanan Association (AGAKA) and San Jose Manobo Tribal Farmers Association as beneficiaries. The total assistance of P3 million will fund local initiatives aimed at improving associations’ conditions and creating sustainable livelihood and job opportunities.

A jobs fair was another key component of the day’s activities. This event brought together 16 employers, both local and overseas, offering a total of 670 job vacancies. Highlighting 10 hired-on-the-spot (HOTS) applicants, the fair featured numerous companies providing diverse employment options and opportunities.

The celebration goes beyond honoring the president and reaffirms our government's commitment to improving the lives of Agusanons. Through TUPAD, DILP, and jobs fair, we are taking tangible steps to address unemployment and support the economic growth of the province.

The event was closely aligned with the department's goal of achieving full, decent, and productive employment for all Filipinos. (DOLE- ADSFO/PIA-Agusan del Sur)
