DOH, NNC strengthen monitoring of health emergency mng’t in Caraga
BUTUAN CITY -- To support the strengthening of the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management in Health (DRRM-H) strategies at all levels towards health system resilience, Health Emergency Management Bureau (HEMB) and Department of Health (DOH) Center for Health Development (CHD) Caraga facilitated the conduct of monitoring, evaluation, and mentoring (MEM) on the 2024 health emergency management on September 3-4 at Grand Palace in Butuan City.
Caraga quad clusters' representatives, including the Nutrition Cluster chaired by the National Nutrition Council (NNC) Caraga Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator Nino Archie S. Labordo, represented by Nutrition Officer III Leah Vina P. Vargas, assisted in the facilitation of the MEM and served as one of the monitoring and evaluation team members. The evaluators will assess the participants using a checklist based on the Health and Emergency Disaster Response Management Framework.
There were scenarios for the tabletop exercises and each scenario contained main processes that must be highlighted and answered. As discussed to the participants, they would receive a corresponding score based on a point system and participants were fully involved in the activities and demonstrated positive attitude towards learning and improvement from start to end.
The DRRM-H System is evident by 100 percent in the five provinces and a highly urbanized City (HUC) in Caraga. Also engaged were additional local government units (LGUs) and facilities such as in Surigao City, Tandag City, Agusan del Norte Provincial Hospital [ADNPH], Butuan Medical Center, Democrito O. Plaza Memorial Hospital [DOPMH], Surigao del Norte Provincial Hospital [SDNPH], Siargao Islands Medical Center and Caraga Regional Hospital.
For the ways forward, the conduct of MEM must be continued at all levels to ensure the sustainability and continuous strengthening of the DRRM-H System and there should be a dedicated organized MEM team to support the periodic/regular conduct of monitoring and evaluation (M&E) that can give focus on previous result validation, and the continuous improvement of the team’s competency.
