Caraga industries demonstrate workplace safety, awarded

BUTUAN CITY -- The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Caraga and the Occupational Safety and Health Center (OSHC) Caraga honored individuals and establishments dedicated to excellence in promoting workplace safety and health, during the 13th Gawad Kaligtasan at Kalusugan (GKK) Regional Awarding Ceremony, held on October 10, at Almont Inland Resort in this city.

The ceremony was attended by DOLE Regional Director and GKK Chairperson Joffrey M. Suyao, along with regional validators including Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) Board Secretary Earl D. Dela Victoria, Supervising Labor and Employment Officer Cornelius Mahinay, Employees' Compensation Commission (ECC) Information Officer Sandee Angeli V. Mocorro, Caraga Occupational Health and Safety. Networks (OSHNet) Vice President Gina R. Aspillaga, and DOLE Province of Dinagat Island (PDI) Field Office Head Engr. John Ritchie A. Tangpos.

The GKK award is an initiative designed to recognize exemplary implementations of effective safety and health measures and significant contributions to improving the needs of workers and workplaces in compliance with OSH standards.

“Let this event, this awarding and recognition, serve as a reward for your hard work and a motivation to pursue even greater heights in health and safety. May your success inspire others in our region and beyond to commit to safe and healthy workplaces,” Dir. Suyao said.

Best Practice Award for OSH Capability Building – Taganito Mining Corporation and Carrascal Nickel Corporation

Best Practice Award for Emergency Preparedness Program – Cagdianao Mining Corporation and Surigao Del Norte State University

Individual Category: Oliver Dennis O. Lao, MD of Hinatuan Mining Corporation, Dinnis M. Bongon of Cagdianao Mining Corporation, Michael E. Ramirez of Pacific Nickel Philippines, Inc., and Manuel R. Arcon of Surigao Del Norte State University.

The regional champions under the industry category received a cash prize of P30,000, while the individual category winners received P20,000. Special awardees also received a cash prize of P10,000.
