TESDA conducts training on pastillas in Tagbina, Surigao Sur

TAGBINA, Surigao del Sur -- To boost the local livelihood opportunities, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Surigao del Sur Provincial Office, in collaboration with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the local government unit (LGU) of Tagbina, conducted a training on making of pastillas to 1,000 beneficiaries on September 30 at the Maglambing gymnasium in Tagbina, Surigao del Sur.

The said training, through DOLE’s program on TUPAD (Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/ Displaced Workers), equipped the local workers with the necessary skills to produce pastillas, a popular Filipino delicacy, that can be a source of sustainable income.

The event was part of TESDA's ongoing commitment to enhancing the livelihood capabilities of communities, particularly in rural areas.

Under the leadership of Mayor Glaiza Jane Polizon-Lanete, the LGU of Tagbina continues to prioritize programs that empower residents through skills development and entrepreneurship. Participants expressed enthusiasm in the training, viewing it as a valuable opportunity to learn a new craft that can help support their families and contribute to the local economy.

By fostering entrepreneurial skills among local workers, the TESDA’s training on pastillas making stood as a testament to the community’s shared goal of economic empowerment and self-sustainability. (Photo courtesy of LGU-Tagbina/NGPB, PIA-Surigao del Sur)
