Over 300 Cabadbaranons graduate from the Kabalikat sa Kabuhayan Program
CABADBARAN CITY, Agusan del Norte -- The city government of Cabadbaran, in partnership with SM Foundation, recently concluded the moving forward ceremony of the 324- 327 graduates of the Kabalikat sa Kabuhayan Program on Sustainable Livelihood from barangays Puting Bato, Calibunan, Mahaba, and Bayabas.
Empowering communities through sustainable livelihood
The 14-week training program, which focused on farm basics and vegetable production, equipped the graduates with the necessary skills to improve their livelihood. The program's success is a testament to the collaborative efforts of SM Foundation and Cabadbaran City with the Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), SM Supermarkets, and SM Supermalls.
Supporting indigenous communities
Notably, 50% of the graduates are members of the indigenous people, who were capacitated to alleviate their way of living through these interventions. The program's impact is further amplified by the 14 principles of Henry Sy Sr., which were instilled in the graduates, promoting a culture of hard work, discipline, and social responsibility.
Financial support for sustainable livelihood
In addition to receiving their certificates of completion, the graduates also received financial support from the Agusan del Norte Congressional Office, amounting to P375,000 per barangay beneficiary. This funding, allocated through the DSWD's Sustainable Livelihood Program, will support the graduates' vegetable production and livelihood initiatives.
Moving forward
The Kabalikat sa Kabuhayan Program on Sustainable Livelihood serves as a beacon of hope for marginalized communities, empowering them to break the cycle of poverty and improve their socio-economic well-being. As the graduates embark on their new journey, they are poised to become catalysts for positive change, inspiring others to strive for a better life. (SM City Butuan/PIA-Agusan del Norte)
