Tandag City delivers essential services to Sitio Suba
TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur (PIA) -- The city government of Tandag led by Mayor Roxanne Pimentel recently delivered essential government services to the remote community of Sitio Suba in Barangay Mabuhay that benefitted the indigenous families, underscoring Tandag City’s commitment to serve even its most isolated residents.
The special barangay visit brought a comprehensive service caravan, with support from the Provincial Health Office (PHO), Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP), and Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) that offered a range of assistance tailored to meet the community’s needs comprising of 584 families.
Free medical and dental services, vaccinations, and nutritional assessments were provided by the City Health Office (CHO) and City Nutrition Office (CNO). Underweight preschoolers and pregnant women also received rice and Nutri-Paks, addressing food security and nutrition in the community.
In addition to healthcare, the City Veterinarian Services Office (CVSO) offered rabies vaccinations and regular health check-ups on livestock, supporting the community’s livelihood.
The City Civil Registrar's Office (CCRO) assisted residents with birth registrations and document corrections, helping indigenous families to have access to essential legal documentation.
The City Mayor’s Office (CMO) added a special touch to the event, providing free haircuts, medicine kits, food packs, and school supplies to children, ensuring the day was both impactful and uplifting.
Mayor Pimentel expressed her commitment to the community, stating, “Kay sa Tandag City, importante kaw! (Because in Tandag City, you are important!).”
This visit exemplified the city’s dedication to empowering indigenous communities, ensuring that all residents have access to essential services, and building stronger ties with those who live in remote areas.
