Leadership of CPD-13, Rotary Club-Butuan commit to enhance community dev’t

BUTUAN CITY -- The Commission on Population and Development (CPD) Caraga and Rotary Club-Butuan North solidified their commitment to the community with the signing of two Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) for the joint implementation of the Philippine Population and Development Plan of Action (PPD-POA) 2023-2028. The event, hosted at the VCDU Prince Hotel, was a testament to the strong leadership and dedicated support of both organizations towards sustainable community development.

The MOUs were signed by Alexander A. Makinano, regional director of CPD Caraga, and Engr. Maximo Y. Sato, Jr., president of Rotary Club-Butuan North. The signing was witnessed by key members of the Rotary Club's leadership, demonstrating their unwavering support for these initiatives.

First MOU: Promotion of Responsible Parenthood and Family Planning. This agreement sets forth a collaborative framework to promote informed reproductive health decisions among residents of Butuan City and neighboring areas. CPD Caraga will provide the necessary technical and educational support, while Rotary Club-Butuan North will facilitate engagement and provide logistical backing.

Second MOU: Enhancement of Labor Force Empowerment and Active and Healthy Aging, focusing on empowering the local labor force and promoting active, healthy aging, this MOU outlines initiatives for skills development, health awareness, and financial literacy. Both organizations will pool their resources and expertise to foster a supportive environment for these programs.

The event was further dignified by the presence of distinguished Rotary Club witnesses, including Alfredo A. Radaza and Fernando D. Galaroza, past assistant governors and board of directors, who endorsed the agreements, reflecting the Club's leadership's commitment to these causes.

"These MOUs represent a proactive approach to addressing key societal challenges through collaboration and innovation," said Dir. Makinano.  "The support from the Rotary Club's leaders is crucial in ensuring the successful implementation and sustainability of these programs."

Engr. Maximo Y. Sato, Jr. remarked, "Our leadership team's endorsement of these MOUs underscores our dedication to making a significant impact in our community. We are excited to see the positive changes that our joint efforts with CPD-Caraga will bring about."

The collaboration between CPD Caraga and Rotary Club-Butuan North is expected to initiate a series of community-focused activities starting early 2025, aimed at fostering significant and lasting improvements in population and development within the region. (May Ann O. Escobal, CPD/PIA-Caraga)
