DSWD-13 maximizes implementation of program on hunger, poverty

BUTUAN CITY -- The Department of Social Welfare and Development’s Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty Program (EPAHPP) is diligently maximizing the remaining days of calendar year 2024 to ensure its objectives are fully realized.

This important endeavor would not be possible without the unwavering support and leadership of the Mayor Michael T. Corilla of the municipality of San Miguel, Surigao del Sur.

"The EPAHP program has continued to make significant strides in addressing local hunger and poverty issues," said Corilla.

Another marketing agreement was recently forged between LGU-San Miguel and Castillo Consumer Goods Store Of Madasigon Castillo Sustainable Livelihood Program Association (MC-SLPA).

The concerted efforts of the local government, in partnership with EPAHP Caraga and the community-based organizations, are crucial in maximizing the potential of the program and ensuring its lasting impact.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (DSWD-EPAHP) stands as a unique and exceptional program within the agency’s portfolio, as it does not rely on traditional grants or financial assistance.

DSWD Caraga Regional Director Mari-Flor Dollaga-Libang reiterated that the DSWD-EPAHP is deeply committed to providing local farmers and fisherfolk with something far more valuable—empowerment, opportunity, and hope.

"By focusing on the provision of vital resources, skills training, and direct partnerships with local communities, the program goes beyond merely offering financial aid; it aims to foster sustainable livelihoods and long-term improvements in the lives of those who are often the most vulnerable," she said.

"Through this holistic approach, EPAHP has become a lifeline for many, offering not just material support, but also the tools and knowledge necessary to build resilience and break the cycle of hunger and poverty," added Libang.

In doing so, the program demonstrates that its true strength lies not in monetary grants, but in its ability to touch hearts and create lasting change in the communities it serves. (DSWD Caraga/PIA-Caraga)
