Butuan City – Surigao del Sur’s livelihood projects were recently recognized at the 2024 Regional Kabuhayan Awards held at Hotel Oazis. These initiatives, supported by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) – Surigao del Sur Field Office under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program, stood out among entries from across the Caraga region.

Outstanding individual achievement

His story highlighted how DOLE’s support can help families transition away from child labor by fostering sustainable and dignified livelihood options.

The project’s success served as a model for other families, emphasizing the role of perseverance and empowerment in achieving a brighter future. Moreover, Llano's dedication underscored the positive impact of community-focused livelihood interventions in addressing socio-economic challenges.

Excellence in group initiatives

In the group category, the Ayoke Conservation Enterprise (ACE) from Sitio Ayoke, Barangay General Island, Cantilan, Surigao del Sur, gained recognition for their innovative project, "Fishing Nets with Engines (Pamangsî)." This initiative, which equipped local fishers with essential tools and engines, significantly enhanced their economic opportunities while promoting sustainable fishing practices.
