DSWD-13’s livelihood program trains participants, staff on digitalization
Alongside its partner organization, the SLP of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga and RC POS Provider, initiated the Point-of-Sale (POS) System training spearheaded by the provincial operations office of Agusan del Sur that capacitated 11 consumer store association members, 18 project development officers, and one administrative staff, held at the Provincial Learning Center in Brgy. This activity allowed participants to engage in hands-on practice with POS equipment through simulation, including scanning barcodes, handling different payment methods, and managing sales promotions.
“It may be difficult at first, but once you get used to it, it is favorable to use. This system reassures us of certainty throughout our workflow. We are willing to learn any necessary skills and knowledge advantageous to the operation of our association,” said Corsenie Tajil, the designated cashier of the Abot Kaya SLP Association.
POS is a digital system that records customer purchases, accepts payments, and provides receipts, either by printing them or sending them electronically through text or email. It also allows one to manage inventory and track employee hours, among other things.
With this development, the participants acquired skills that will give them a significant leap to their operations and implementations through the enhancement of the overall shopping experience and streamlining of transactions with the customers. It will relieve them from the tedious and sluggish traditional methods of operating a business.
“It is part of our commitment to empower local entrepreneurs with tools that streamline business processes and support sustainable growth in their communities. We believe that by implementing POS systems, these consumer stores will be able to offer a more professional and seamless experience to their customers,” said SLP Agusan del Sur Provincial Coordinator Danrib Enoc.
Enoc added that the SLP already has a handful of training to be implemented, excluding this one.
