SSS Tandag Intensifies efforts against delinquent employers
TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur -- The Social Security System (SSS) Tandag Branch marked a notable achievement in its Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) campaign, as shared by Branch Head Benigno Dagani Jr. during a press conference held on November 22 at the SSS Tandag Branch.
From January to October 2024, 80 employers from the 1st district of Surigao del Sur were flagged for delinquent contributions. Encouragingly, 38 of these employers have since complied, with 20 completing full payments, 14 making partial payments, and four opting for installment arrangements.
Dagani highlighted the program’s mission of safeguarding employees' rights and benefits under the law.
“Our goal is not only to enforce compliance but also to create awareness among employers about their responsibility to their employees,” Dagani emphasized.
The RACE initiative, a cornerstone of the SSS’s efforts, focuses on holding non-compliant employers accountable while providing education on the importance of remittance obligations. Dagani reassured employers of the agency’s readiness to assist those willing to settle their dues, noting that a compliant system ensures financial security for employees and contributes to overall economic stability.
On November 22, the SSS Tandag Branch conducted the RACE operation in Tandag City to further raise awareness and address issues of non-compliance. This activity underscores the agency’s commitment to enforcing Republic Act No. 11199, or the Social Security Act of 2018, which mandates members’ and employers’ adherence to remittance obligations.
The campaign's mix of enforcement and advocacy continues to yield positive results, with improved employer awareness and compliance rates. Dagani urged all employers to fulfill their obligations, emphasizing the collective responsibility to maintain a strong and efficient social security system that benefits the SSS members.
The SSS Tandag Branch remains steadfast in enhancing compliance, protecting employees’ entitlements, and upholding its mandate to serve the community. (SSS-Tandag/NGPB, PIA-Surigao del Sur)
