DTI advances Surigao Norte food entrepreneurs with dev’t kits
SURIGAO CITY, Surigao del Norte -- The micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) from Surigao del Norte took another step toward market readiness and innovation as the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) - Surigao del Norte turned over development kits featuring improved labelling and packaging.
These kits are the result of initiatives under the 2024 Assessment, Consultation, and Triage (ACT) Session for Food, held on August 12-13.
The ACT session held in Surigao City and Siargao Island, brought together local food entrepreneurs and industry experts to assess and enhance the market potential of Surigao del Norte’s unique food products.
The session, aligned with the flagship One Town, One Product (OTOP) Program, focused on sensory evaluation, branding, and improvement on labelling and packaging to elevate the quality and competitiveness of local products.
The participating MSMEs are now better equipped to showcase their products in upcoming trade fairs and exhibitions, bringing light to Surigao del Norte’s thriving food industry.
With the combined efforts of government agencies, industry experts, and committed entrepreneurs, the local food sector continues to be a driving force in Surigao’s economic development. (DTI-SDN/PIA- Surigao del Norte)
