DICT-13 highlights career opportunities at Digital Careers Expo

Butuan City—The Digital Careers Expo Caraga 2024 of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), under the guidance and support from the Office of the Undersecretary for ICT Industry Development and the ICT Industry Development Bureau, drew students, IT professionals, and mall goers to explore and be engaged on digital career opportunities on Tuesday, November 26, at the North Atrium, Robinsons Place Butuan.

More than 400 students coming from the various 11 higher educational institutions, high schools, and senior high schools were engaged on the four panel discussions on:

Panel 1: Government Support for the Digital Landscape

Panel 2: Showcasing Digital Careers in the IT-BPM Industry

Panel 3: Global Market Opportunities in the Online Freelancing Industry

Panel 4: Showcasing Digital Careers in the Emerging Technologies

Among the notable speakers were Ephrem Dela Cerna of Seaversity Inc. and the Game Developers Association of the Philippines (GDAP); Kleyr Chainani of Top Draw Animation and the Animation Council of the Philippines Inc. (ACPI); Ambia Guiomala of Teleperformance; Chan Nier of VConnx Virtual Solutions; Zaguetth Cabonce of Zag Designs; Glenn Mark Dizon of XYR Digital Marketing, Ruben Lacumba of Davao De-Fi Community PH;  Ferdie James Nervida of the Blockchain Investigation Anchain AI; and Mark Dave Manansala of Kave Guild.

Discussions were led by panel moderators from the online freelancing, Cynne Paul Hayon, and PSITE Caraga President Irene May Escauso. Aside from the panel discussions and presentations, the participants also witnessed the exhibits from Caraga's homegrown tech startups and success stories namely, Scrapcycle, MapX, STELLA.ai, and Snapscout.

Among the exhibitors were ICT ecosystem players in Butuan, CoreWork BPO, Dodo Co-working Space, and Caraga Organization of Rig Enthusiasts that displayed informational booths on the ICT industries and emerging tech.

The Digital Careers Expo 2024  set a strong foundation for future exploration and innovation in the Caraga region's tech landscape. By fostering awareness and providing practical insights into emerging technologies, the expo has inspired many to consider careers in blockchain and digital technologies, paving the way for a promising future for Caraga's talent in the ICT industries.
