Bayugan City launches basic orientation course for new barangay officials
AGUSAN DEL SUR -- The local government unit of Bayugan City, in partnership with the Liga ng mga Barangay and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Agusan del Sur, commenced its two-day Basic Orientation Course for Barangay Newly Elected Officials on December 9 at the city's Lope A. Asis gymnasium.
The training brought together participants from all 43 barangays, including punong barangays, sangguniang barangay members, barangay secretaries, treasurers, Sangguniang Kabataan officials, and Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representatives (IPMRs).
The program featured a series of sessions led by esteemed resource speakers:
Session 1: Atty. Daniel P. Longaquit, local government operation officer (LGOO) VI of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) San Francisco, Agusan del Sur, provided an insightful discussion on key provisions of the Local Government Code of 1991 (RA 7160) relevant to barangays.
Session 2: Jinky H. Ladia, assistant city treasurer shared valuable insights on Barangay Finance, Tax Code, and Collections.
Session 3: Mildred B. Dy, CPA, city accountant delivered a comprehensive session on Barangay Appropriation and Expenditure.
The BNEO Basic Orientation Course aims to enhance the competencies of barangay officials and functionaries, strengthen transparency and accountability, and deepen their understanding of relevant laws and policies.
