Surigao Sur Procurement Mng’t Division conducts a benchmarking visit to Agusan Sur

AGUSAN DEL SUR -- The provincial government of Surigao del Sur - Procurement Management Division staff recently conducted a benchmarking visit to the provincial government of Agusan del Sur (PGAS) to gain valuable insights into its efficient procurement practices. 

The delegation focused on studying the innovative processes employed by PGAS's Bids and Awards Committee (BAC), particularly its advancements in procurement systems.

The benchmarking activity was facilitated by the BAC Secretariat, headed by Maria Jennifer M. Tono, ensuring a smooth and productive exchange of ideas and addressing the participant's queries. 

The delegates were warmly welcomed by Provincial Administrator Ronulfo R. Paler and Atty. Lizette Kaye F. Estellore as they both delivered inspiring messages, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and knowledge-sharing among local government units.

Engineer Israel De Guzman, head of the Business Process Division of the Provincial Information Management Office (PIMO), also provided a comprehensive overview of PGAS's efforts in developing and implementing cutting-edge information systems. 

He highlighted how these innovations significantly streamlined the organizational operations, improving efficiency and effectiveness in procurement processes.

Adding to the discussion, Loigie Panganoron, the lead programmer of the e-Procurement System, presented an in-depth walkthrough of PGAS's procurement workflow. He was joined by Donald Glenn M. Lazado, who conducted a detailed run-through of the e-Procurement System (EPS) and addressed participants' queries, further clarifying the system’s features and functionality.

The presentations underscored the vital role of technology in enhancing transparency, accountability, and efficiency, offering PGAS’s system as a potential model for other local government units.
