COMELEC Surigao Sur hosts security control command conference for 2025 elections

TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur (PIA) -- The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Provincial Election Supervisor's Office in Surigao del Sur, led by Atty. Riza Ann Donalyn Constantino, hosted the Provincial Joint Security Control Center (PJSCC) Command Conference on January 9, marking a significant milestone in preparations for the upcoming May 12, 2025 National and Local Elections (NLE).

During the conference, key resolutions, memorandums, and policies adopted by COMELEC were discussed in detail. These discussions focused on strategies and best practices aimed at ensuring a secure, fair, and credible electoral process.

Representatives from the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines(AFP) through the Philippine Army, both crucial partners in maintaining peace and order, shared their plans to support the election process. The PNP, led by Police Colonel Harry Domingo, committed to enhance the law enforcement measures, including the establishment of checkpoints, strict enforcement of the election gun ban, and rapid response to election-related incidents.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Army assured its continued support by deploying personnel to election hotspots, ensuring security at polling places, and aiding in the safe transport of election materials to remote areas.

The Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Caraga, through its Surigao del Sur Information Center,  reaffirmed its commitment to providing timely, accurate, and relevant election information, emphasizing its role in keeping communities informed and engaged throughout the electoral process.

Officials from various law enforcement agencies, government offices, and other stakeholders attended the event, underscoring their collective responsibility to safeguard voters and uphold electoral integrity.

As preparations for the May 2025 NLE continue, the PJSCC remains dedicated to fostering collaboration among agencies and addressing potential challenges proactively. With the combined efforts of COMELEC, PNP, the Philippine Army, and other stakeholders, Surigao del Sur is on track to host a peaceful, organized, and secure election.

Meanwhile, the activity also launched the collaboration between the COMELEC, PNP, Philippines Army, and the Department of Education (DepEd) for manpower support during Election Day, and other key election stakeholders. This marked the beginning of a united effort to ensure smooth, secure, and orderly elections. (NGPB, PIA-Surigao del Sur)
