Statistics office in Agusan Norte to conduct the livestock, poultry survey

BUTUAN CITY -- The Philippine Statistics Authority – Agusan del Norte is set to conduct the Livestock and Poultry Survey: Establishment (LPS:E) and Livestock and Poultry Survey: Household (LPS:H) for the first quarter of 2025. The LPS:E is scheduled for the last ten days of March 2025, while LPS:H will be conducted during the first seven days of April 2025. These surveys are conducted quarterly which aim to generate estimates on inventory, number of animals disposed of, average farmgate price, egg production of poultry animals, milk production of dairy animals, and other related data on farm animals from household and establishment livestock and poultry industry in the country.

The LPS:H will cover 240 sample households, while LPS:E will gather from 69 establishments that engaged in livestock and/or poultry for breeding/propagation, or food consumption. The survey involves a face-to-face data collection method, wherein the hired statistical researcher (SR) will use the Computer-Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI). Before field operations commence, training sessions and briefings, along with practical observations by the Philippine Statistical Office (PSO) supervisor on the SR, are conducted to ensure a uniform understanding of concepts and the accuracy of responses from the sample during data collection and processing.

The data generated from the survey are inputs to the value of production of agriculture and according to the computation of gross domestic product (GDP). Moreover, the survey supports the data needs of planners, policy and decision makers, and other stakeholders in the agriculture sector. The information collected by the hired SRs and/or field supervisors from sample farmers shall be kept strictly confidential and shall not be used for taxation, investigation or regulation as provided under Article 55 or Republic Act 10625.
