The FICs are Caraga State University in Butuan City, Surigao del Norte State University (SNSU) in Surigao City, Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology (ASSCAT) in Agusan del Sur, North Eastern Mindanao State University (NEMSU) in Surigao del Sur and the newest to join is the Father Saturnino Urios University also in Butuan City.

These centers are focused on developing innovative food products, including functional foods, to enhance food security and support local businesses, along with the agency’s efforts to facilitate the adoption of advanced processing technologies and improve production efficiency, ensure compliance with international quality standards, and open opportunities for export markets.

“A notable product of the food innovation center is the Danggit ice cream of NEMSU in Liangga campus, Surigao del Sur that is now being tapped by national and international investors for commercialization,” Dir. Ajoc said.

“In Caraga, we recognize that science and technology innovations are essential for the fast-paced growth of our region and the entire nation,” Dir.
