TAGBINA, Surigao del Sur -- The Tagbina local government, in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development, launched a cash-for-work program to provide employment opportunities for 210 young residents.
The 3.8 million peso program, under DSWD’s Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan – Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services – Kapangyarihan at Kaunlaran sa Barangay (KALAHI-CIDSS–KKB), will employ beneficiaries for 50 days, allowing them to contribute to community development projects.
“This program is more than just financial support. It’s an investment in our youth and their role in building our community,” Tagbina Mayor Glaiza Jane Lanete said.
A coordination meeting between DSWD Caraga, the Tagbina local government, and North Eastern Mindanao State University’s Tagbina campus finalized program details, said Glenn Lazaro, Tagbina Special Program Division chief. The program will benefit both graduates and current students of the university.
The cash-for-work initiative targets students and recent graduates transitioning into the workforce.
The program is part of ongoing efforts by the local and national governments to empower youth, reduce vulnerability and strengthen local development.
The municipality aims to move forward with its vision of a “Progresibong Tagbina” (Progressive Tagbina) through partnerships with national agencies like DSWD. (NGPB, PIA Surigao del Sur)
