Tandag City reclaims peace as authorities dismantle drug den

The operation, which resulted in the arrest of three suspects and the seizure of P75,000 worth of shabu, culminated weeks of meticulous surveillance and effective coordination at the barangay level. Concerned residents, alarmed by the growing presence of drug activity in their community, played a crucial role in supporting the operation by providing vital intelligence, leading to a successful intervention.
More than a law enforcement victory, the operation underscored the power of community involvement in combating the drug menace. The confiscation of illegal drugs, drug paraphernalia, a cellular phone used in transactions, and the recovery of marked buy-bust money serve as tangible proof of the collective efforts between the authorities and the people in making their neighborhood safer.
Barangay Telaje officials expressed their gratitude and optimism, believing that this operation will inspire more residents to stand united against illegal drugs and to actively support ongoing efforts that promote a drug-free and empowered community. They highlighted the importance of such collaboration, not only for immediate safety but for long-term social transformation.
PDEA’s ‘Magka-Agapay’
Aligned with PDEA’s “Magka-Agapay: PDEA at Barangay” initiative, the operation reflected the campaign's core values, empowering barangays, fostering community participation, and building a culture of peace and responsibility. This grassroots program encourages residents to actively address drug-related issues, contributing to safer and more resilient communities.
As part of the initiative, PDEA provides barangays like Telaje with resources such as awareness programs, confidential reporting mechanisms, and strategic partnerships, empowering local communities to take charge of their safety and well-being.
As the suspects now face charges under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, the residents of Barangay Telaje are looking to the future with renewed hope. The dismantling of the drug den is seen as a turning point, demonstrating that meaningful change begins at the grassroots level and that, with continued collaboration, communities can take the lead in protecting themselves from illegal activities.
PDEA officials emphasized that a drug-free community is a long-term goal that requires sustained effort and vigilance. However, they are confident that with the active participation of empowered citizens and the continuous support of law enforcement, a safer and healthier society is not just a vision—it is a reality already taking shape.
