Gov't Internship Program's MOA signing commences employment of 368 interns

BUTUAN CITY – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Caraga and 117 various national government agencies and local government units, recently signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA), at the Pavilion Watergate to provide internship to 368 young and adult workers for a period of six (6) months under the DOLE’s Government Internship Program (GIP).

During the event, DOLE Employment Unit Head Lilian Solis, conducted orientation on key features of GIP. She emphasized the program’s structure, aiming to improve the work experience for interns and maximize the benefits for both the workers and the partner agencies.

DOLE Caraga Director Jason P. Balais expressed deep appreciation to the partner agencies for their support, noting that their willingness to absorb GIP interns plays a vital role in the program’s success.

“This initiative is more than just providing internships. It serves as a crucial bridge for young and adult workers, easing their transition from school to work,” said Dir. Balais.

By way of response, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Caraga Director Gay Tidalgo acknowledged the significant contributions of the GIP interns to the DTI. She expressed gratitude to DOLE for facilitating the program, stating that the interns have played an instrumental role in helping the agency deliver vital programs and services to the public.

GIP is a key initiative of DOLE that provides young and adult workers with the opportunity to gain valuable work experience within various government agencies. The program aims to develop the interns’ skills, prepare them for the workforce, and provide them with valuable work experience while earning income equivalent to the current minimum wage of the region.
