DAR honors women’s contributions in Agusan Sur
SAN FRANCISCO, Agusan del Sur -- The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Agusan del Sur, in coordination with the DAR Ladies Association (DARLA), recently conducted a one-day health services, bazaar, and financial training as part of its efforts in honoring women's contribution in the society, at the DAR Provincial Office (DARPO) lobby of this municipality.
The activity, guided by the theme, “Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat ang Bukas sa Bagong Pilipinas,” was spearheaded by Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II Loida L. Jones, with the full participation of DAR Agusan del Sur employees.
The celebration began with a solemn Catholic Mass, setting a reflective and meaningful tone for the day's activities.
The event featured various activities aimed at promoting women's health, financial empowerment, and entrepreneurship. The Rural Health Unit (RHU) of San Francisco provided essential medical services, including a bloodletting drive and Vaginal Inspection with Acetic Acid (VIA) screening for cervical cancer prevention.
Employees also showcased their entrepreneurial spirit through the DARLA Bazaar, where locally made products were displayed and sold.
Participants gained valuable insights from an orientation on stem cell therapy by Katipunan Agricultural Producers Cooperative (KAPCO) Chairperson Gina Mojado and a discussion on Marrea Estates Corporation's services.
Following this, the DARLA General Assembly was conducted, where members convened to discuss key matters concerning the organization. The assembly also included the election of a new set of officers, ensuring the continued leadership and advocacy for women empowerment within DAR Agusan del Sur.
The event’s highlight was the discussion on “Women and Wealth: A Gender-Sensitive Financial Literacy Training,” with the Resource Speaker Kenneth Elka Gulde, sales manager of City Savings Bank, San Francisco, which emphasized financial independence and smart money management for women.
Adding prestige to the celebration, DAR Caraga Regional Director Merlita Capinpuyan joined the event and shared an inspiring message on the empowerment of women, emphasizing their vital role in shaping a progressive Agusan del Sur.
In her closing remarks, Jones encouraged women to continue striving for excellence.
“We, women, are lucky to be recognized and empowered in today’s society. Let us use this privilege to uplift not only our families but also the communities we serve, especially in agrarian reform,” she said. (DAR Agusan del Sur/PIA Agusan del Sur)
